The Study Abroad - Summer/Winter courses offered by UPM present immersive educational experiences lasting between 4 to 8 weeks, entirely conducted in English. Tailored for university students, these courses aim to provide a deeper understanding of specialized subjects.

Global Sustainability Experience in Brazil

The Global Sustainability Program 2026 is an immersive international initiative designed to connect students with real-world environmental, economic, and social challenges. Through an interdisciplinary curriculum and collaborative, project-based learning, participants explore key sustainability themes—ranging from water management and reverse logistics to health, biodiversity, and environmental law. By engaging with global methodologies, cross-cultural teamwork, and practical problem-solving, students develop actionable insights and leadership skills needed to drive meaningful social impact in an interconnected world.

Summer / Winter Courses - Completed

Water Management, Sustainability and Pollution: impacts and solutions benefiting environment and traditional communities in Brazil

The course will take place from May 12th to June 27st, 2025.

The main objective of the program is to provide a multidisciplinary understanding of the environmental, social (wellbeing and economic) technical impacts of pollution and treatment.

Participants will be able to propose innovative solutions to improve the social impact of water pollution in the region.

This program will be based on theoretical classes, technical visits and field work within a multidisciplinary approach.

The main objective of the program is to provide a multidisciplinary understanding of the environmental, social (wellbeing and economic) technical impacts of pollution and treatment.

Participants will be able to propose innovative solutions to improve the social impact of water pollution in the region.

This program will be based on theoretical classes, technical visits and field work within a multidisciplinary approach.

The course took place from May 29 to July 21, 2023.

The main objective of the project was to provide an understanding of the environmental, social (welfare and economic) and technical impacts of water pollution and treatment in the state of São Paulo. Participants were invited to propose innovative solutions to improve the social impact of the water pollution situation in the region.

This project was be based on lectures, technical visits and fieldwork within a multidisciplinary approach.

The course was designed to be taught in five modules, providing students with a great immersion in Brazilian culture and society. It also provided the necessary perspective on the regional situation, giving a more grounded understanding of the importance of the technical aspects of the project and the responsibility that comes with STEM careers.
